North York is a city inside the city and its bookings reflect that. There is a real downtown at Yonge and Sheppard running north to Finch, with office towers, the civic square and a dense band of condos through Willowdale. There is a corporate corridor along Sheppard and the 401 and out toward Don Mills. There are the established residential pockets of York Mills, Bayview Village, Hoggs Hollow and the streets around the Bridle Path. And there is Downsview and the York University area to the northwest. The driving is dominated by three roads. The 401 runs across the top of it and is the fastest route to Pearson off-peak and the most reliable place in the region to lose an hour in the peaks. The 404 and the DVP run south from the top of the city into downtown, clogging southbound in the morning and northbound from mid-afternoon. Allen Road cuts down the west side toward Eglinton. For Pearson, a North York pickup is straight down the 401 west to Highway 409 or the 427, which is quick outside the peaks and slow inside them, so a morning flight means an early car. For downtown, allow substantially more time between seven and nine than a map suggests. Graydon Hall Manor and the Don Mills event venues sit in this part of the city and are easy from the north and east and slow from downtown in the evening peak. Is there a charge for driving out to the edge of the corridor?
Distance is part of the quote from the start, not a surprise line at the end. A run out to Oakville or Oshawa costs more than a run across midtown because it is more hours and more kilometres, and you will see that before you agree to it. What we will not do is quote a downtown number and then add travel once the car is already booked.
Can the car stay with us between stops?
That is the whole point of hourly and as-directed work. The driver and the vehicle are yours for the block of time, so the car waits while you are in the meeting, the appointment, the dinner or the fitting, and your things stay in it. It is usually the better value once a day has three or more stops, because you are not paying to re-book and re-position a car each time.
